Chipolbrok plans new vessels with heavy-lift capacity. /23 May 2001/

Negotiations with Chinese shipyards for building 2 new 30.000 dwt vessels already started.

Mid June Chipolbrok, the Chinese Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company, will celebrate its 50-th anniversary. Chipolbrok, the very first joint venture ever between a Chinese and a foreign company, at this moment deploys some 20 multipurpose vessels in the trade from South East Asia, China and Europe, approx. 427,000 dwt.

Over the years Chipolbrok had to adapt to the political and economical changes. This resulted in restructuring the agency network, acquiring new tonnage and applying a new strategy. Chipolbrok continued to focuss on the conventional and project cargo trade. Last year more than 700,000 tons of cargo were shipped.

At this moment Chipolbrok considers a further step in the already ongoing renewal of its fleet. Negotiations with Chinese shipyards have been started on 2 new 30,000 dwt vessels. Both triple-decked and equipped with heavy lift cranes, with a combined capacity of 600 tons. The 2 new vessels are scheduled for 2003/2004. Options on 2 extra vessels are foreseen.
